Bishop Paul Tanner established Nativity of Our Lord Parish on May 22, 1969. Named to establish this new parish was Father Francis Killeen. The property for our parish had been purchased quite sometime earlier by Archbishop Thomas Toolen, the Bishop of the Diocese of Mobile-Birmingham.
The first Mass for Nativity of Our Lord was held in Ferry Pass Middle School cafeteria on Sunday morning, November 8, 1969. It was on March 26, 1972, that a groundbreaking ceremony was held at our present location. Construction of the church building was completed in December 1972 - just in time for Christmas Mass (the feast day of our Parish name). The solemn blessing and dedication was held on May 4, 1973.
Msgr. Michael Mooney became the second Pastor of Nativity of Our Lord on December 2, 1980, and remained here until the end of June 2014, when Father Patrick Foley was named our Pastor.
Today, our parish is blessed with two great priests. Fr. Hank Lech became our Pastor in 2021 after being assigned here in 2020. Fr. Raymond joined us in July 2021 after being ordained a priest in June 2021 upon completing his seminary studies.
The Parish boundaries extend from I-10 north to Kingsfield Road, from Escambia Bay on the east to the L&N railroad track on the west (by Old Palafox Road).
