Since 1972, The Nativity Charismatic Prayer Group - The Prayer Family has existed to worship the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, to pray for the needs of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, and to exercise the gifts of the Holy Spirit for the building up of the Church. We seek a personal relationship with Jesus and ask Him to activate all the gifts of the Holy Spirit that we have been given through Baptism and Confirmation. By igniting the fire of the Holy Spirit within us, Jesus opens a new desire for holiness and for service in other Church Ministries.
Our special way of prayer is one that is affirmed by and in union with the Catholic Church. As St. Pope John Paul II said in 1979 "The Catholic Charismatic Renewal is a sign of the Spirit's action and a very important component in the total renewal of the Church." In 1997, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops stated, "It is appropriate to issue a statement of affirmation, support, and encouragement to those (priests, religious and lay people) who have experienced the release of gifts and charisms of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:4).
Our Prayer Group is also part of the Diocesan Commission for Charismatic Renewal and the National and International Charismatic Renewal Ministries.
